Installation Issues
To carry out Bitdefender setup in a smooth way, ensure that the system fulfills all minimum requirements. During installation process, an active Internet connection is required to activate it with a license key. Some of the installation issues are discussed below-

Insufficient permission to alter the file
The main cause of this error is due to limited permission to modify a file. You must be logged in to the system as an administrator to modify or remove the file.

Previous version existence
Before installing the antivirus, check if your system has any previously installed version and files. If so, remove the entire previous version, restart it and try with the new installation. To remove the product, go to Control Panel> Add/Remove Programs and click the remove button at right side of the software. If the previous version of the product is not removed completely or removed partially, it causes an installation issue. It displays the error message ‘Error 1638’.

Setup Wizard not resumed
During the installation process, system may prompt for a restart. After it, if the setup wizard is not resumed, installation will fail leading to error. In such case, reinstall the setup.

OS not supported
Installation may also fail if the operating system does not support the installed version. It is advised to check the minimum system configuration. It shows the error message ‘Error 1633’. Ensure if the system is using 32 bit or 64 bit OS.

Insufficient Swapping space
It may even fail if the file is in swapping space. It can be corrected by downloading the complete setup and then reinstalling it.

Bad drive
The users use external drive and remove it from the system. Afterwards, they try to install the antivirus on the external drive which is not accessible, leading to failure of the installation process.

II.    For Vista and Windows 7: Click Start>Control Panel> (Security)> Windows Firewall> Turn off Windows Firewall.

Bad DNS
It may be due to the previous malware infection. To rectify it, go to Start> enter ‘ncpa.cpl’. Right click on Internet connection and choose Properties. Open Internet Protocol and check on ‘Obtain DNS server automatically’ and press Ok.
